"All British food is bland"
Another bullshit argument
Another bullshit statement
Another tedious unaware, ignorant American

Why is it seemingly Ok to slag off the UK (incorrectly)
But if you rebuff or challenge an American citizen on their country's lifestyle they feel like you're anti American

For the record - US food is generally salty or sweet - because the yanks have immature palates - and the FDA seems to be happy poisoning the population

So UK food - bland?

Until the early 80s, food in Britain was pretty poor.

No, but you must know that the ones who cause the most damage often are...

The mentality of the baby boomer generation won't serve us well from here on in...

That's not a political statement...it's just something which will come to pass...but we've got another 20 years of this shit before a significant shift occurs

;-)

CB, it's like getting upset because you heard that a Spur's fan thinks West Ham fans are all knobs.

Who gives a fuck. Shrug your shoulders and move on.

This English butcher shows how to make a variety of English style meat dishes.
The way he butchers a Welsh lamb is wonderful
This video shows him making White Pudding

If our right-wing zealot government gets its way...we will be signing a TTIP trade treaty between U.S and all the other right-wing zealot governments of the E.U which will guarantee that we have no food laws to protect us whatsoever...amongst lots of other nasty things...

Funny someone here mentioned the UsA has better food choices because of the immigrants there . . . .

Seeing as our country has been "overrun" since the time of Christ

Re: "All British food is bland"
British farmers produce a huge variety of high quality foods, distributed quickly and efficiently to outlets near all of us. It's up to you what you do with it! There's also a difference between bland and not over flavoured. I had bubble and squeak and poached eggs earlier - lovely, but it would have taken a matter of seconds to add habanero, salt and maple syrup if I'd wanted to appease our colonial cousins...

With the massive variety of foods - mostly homegrown - how can British food be bland?

The problem is: mostl Brits have just forgotten/never learned to cook!

Re: "All British food is bland"
People on here have no idea what British food is and no idea about food but still make stupid comments about it.

Fact is British food is amongst the finest on the planet and contains the same inrediants or more as most other foods.

Someone please tell me what is so wonderful about Eastern European food, north or south American, African even Spanish even? And I find most Asian food horible with few basic ingredients and tons of spice and seasoning and oil.

English food is fairly plain, but there is nothing wrong with that.

American food is just stolen from other countries and made much worse.

In my opinion the situation with British/ English Ale is rather different:

I can buy some English Ale in a local deli shop but in general the style does not appeal to a lot of foreigners where the main criteria is for their beer to be as cold as possible.

Having said that British manufacturers do not appear to either interested or reluctant to market their products very well (English cheese is another good example which is quite rare to find). I have recently been involved in a local Food Expo. Plenty of products being promoted from US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain but nothing from the UK.
